Engagement

(or even the best laid plans of mice and men....)

Sept 17, 2004, just one week after asking Tara's parents for permission to marry their daughter, I bought a home in Raleigh.  The plan was simple,
Tara was planning on coming down to Raleigh (from Northern Virginia) with me to help me move, propose to her in the foyer of the new home.
Only, my initial plan meant that we needed to be in Raleigh at 7PM on September 18th.  When the movers came to the house in Virginia 4 hours late, and after three stops we left northern Virginia at 6:30 PM, I knew that the whole idea was shot.  Tara and I arrived in Raleigh at midnight September 19th. Exhausted, as I bent on one knee, Tara sat down in front of me.  I figured I must have been doing something wrong, being new at the task of proposing, I stood her back up to propose, only she sat down again.  During the third time, I held her up as I took a knee.  She said yes and gave me a huge hug before I could even open the ring box.

All of these photos were taken with my camera phone because my real digital camera was packed in a box during the move.
