HAMELET TURNS 400!

Our second installment of this public lecture series continues our new annual tradition of wining,
dining, and talking about Shakespeare. To emphasize the celebratory mood the year 2000 grants us, we present the topic "Hamlet in History". Distinguished scholars will meet and address all the
"princely" (and knavish) qualities of the Bard's favorite son, highlighting many famous (and infamous)
actors associated with the role, certain controversial viewpoints about the play, its historical legacy,
and relevance for the future. These are the kinds of speeches only a mother could love. You may
have to wait another century before attending a birthday party as important as this one. Unlike
Hamlet, we ask that you not waste y our time talking to yourself - experience "ShakeSpeak" by
talking with us!
